Constructing a frequency distribution for non-grouped data

Twenty patients, distribution: F 3, M 6, P 4, T 3, W 4.
The Coast medical group contains doctors M, P and W. How many patients saw a Coast doctor?
Same distribution: F 3, M 6, P 4, T 3, W 4.
The Plymouth group contains P and T. How many patients saw a Plymouth doctor?
Same distribution: F 3, M 6, P 4, T 3, W 4.
How many patients did not see Dr Mitchel?
A clinic has five doctors: Foster, Mitchel, Philips, Tran and Washington. Twenty patients were seen this morning, each by one doctor:

The second part these questions add
ALEKS usually follows with a grouping question: the doctors belong to medical groups, and it asks how many patients saw a doctor in one of them.
If the Coast group is Mitchel, Philips and Washington, that is 6 + 4 + 4 = 14 patients. You are just adding the rows the group names — but read carefully, because a doctor can belong to more than one group and the same patient must not be counted twice.
